Hi Mark,

What a job you must have -- I'm sure it's exciting but it must also be exhausting!

I'm always on the lookout for small, mom & pop type wineries that make clean, simple, natural wines in an old world style. Some that I already enjoy (in no particular order) are Frick, Unti, Edmunds St John, Chariot (Jim Neal, especially his sangiovese), Preston of Dry Creek, Sunce, Joseph Swan and Alderbrook. I know many of the bigger names in Sonoma and Napa so I usually try to find at least one or two hidden gems on each visit.

The new GA law is a huge improvement but it's likely that Sonny "Bubba" Perdue will veto it. In our last election we overwhelmingly voted to allow alcohol sales on Sunday (64%)and Bubba vetoed it. Methinks the distributors helped him get elected.

Thanks for the comment.

Hello Erwin,
Let me know if I can be of help on your coming trip as far as wineries I do have the info on about a 1000 here in Napa/Sonoma did 10 tours in the last 13 days.

This new law looks like an improvement no? This is some thing I see constantly here as most of my clients are from other states and the laws can be quite frustrating some just silly. I hope that at some point they are unified and all have the right to ship to their home and enjoy wine there without restriction!

I visited your site today and think we both could really benefit from exchanging links to each other. We could either do a reciprocal link or a three way link trade which would be most beneficial to both of us as it is a one way link to each other. Our site is www.mustlovewine.com.

With the three way link trade we would add a blog post on www.food-and-beverage.net that linked to your main page and 2 sub pages via keyword. In return you would link back to MustLoveWine.com. The advantage to this is that you get 3 links back from food-and-beverage.net in return for linking to mustlovewine.com.

If you are interested in swapping links please let us know, email us at linkbuilder@twobudz.com.

Thanks for your time.

Clearly a man with too much time on his hands. When I try something like this someone you know complains "I see you're on that computer again".
Very clever and good track though, I'll have to try something like this with the kids, now that's a challenge.

I just discovered Bogle Phantom (2004) at The Wine Club here in Santa Clara for $13.99. Wow...what a great deal!

This is a unique wine blend...it grew on me with each glass. You can really taste the petite sirah and the old vine zin is yummy. I noted that this wine gets even better as it breathes. A very good wine for this price in my opinion.

Hmmm.....maybe I should have another glass! Drinks great with or without food.

Per the guys at the Wine Club...they just got 3 cases in, but said it will be sold out in 3 days. Definetly a keeper!

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a bottle of Paulinshof Riesling 04 this past weekend. You described it to a 'T'. The fragrance was incredible and it actually tasted like apple cider at first thought. The acidity was perfect with a nice tartness that lingered on the palette until the next sip. Loved it.

I found this wine awful!
I disagree on the level of ripeness. I think that is not the problem here.

The overwhelming hot tar/asphalt/bandaid aromas suggest either runaway use of excessively toasted barrels or just plain old brettanomyces.

I picked this wine up as a curiosity, but once again I was left remembering how swore never to buy wine at Trade Joe's.

This wine was not drinkable at all!! It went down the drain after three sips. It smelled and tasted of pepper.

I loved the old Topolos tasting room. Like you Irwin, we ran into the same problem with the Alicante, (same year, 2002) which we picked up a mixed case of their wines when my girlfriend and I were there about two or years ago. We put it in her fathers wine cellar, so it was stored properly, but when we cracked one open starting about the last year, you could taste that it was losing it's flavor and going bad. The Alcohol and vinegar were taking over big time. It was a nice buy and an interesting tasting wine, but definitely don't let it age. Drink it now. I'm glad to hear they are still in business though.

I think public roads are meant to be used by anyone for any reason at any time. Traffic is an inevitable byproduct of civilization. I'm sorry you have these restrictions put upon you. Prohibition was overturned some time ago but I guess your neighbors haven't gotten the word yet. Hang in there. If I'm ever in the area, I'll make an appointment for a tasting.

Just to provide accurate information, as owner of Pescatore Winery, let it be known that my county Minor Use Permit states "no public tasting" which the county and I agreed for 5 years meant I could do tastings by appointment. The public open houses that Mr. Giles protests against were permitted by the County CEO Mr. Tom Miller after several meetings with the wineries. In Oct. of 2006, the county changed their interpretation, thus almost all the Placer wineries are redoing their MUPs. Mr. Giles, in 5 years never contacted me with any complaint, and the county contacted me only once, in Oct. of 2006 regarding the wineries having an open house. Do you think 15 cars a week impacts roads?

Just to provide accurate information, as owner of Pescatore Winery, let it be known that my county Minor Use Permit states “no public tasting” which the county and I agreed for 5 years meant I could do tastings by appointment.

Hi Erwin,

I apologize for sending this through the comments, but I don't see your contact info anywhere on the website. I'd like to know if you are interested in beta-testing a new wine web 2.0 website that is launching in a few weeks. If so, please contact me for more details.
