29 July 2008 - 15:28“Fancy Wine” or Whatchoo doin’ wit dat apple juice?

I met with the 2 girlfriends last weekend from circa 6th grade. Cecelia and Lucille said they would bring some wine. No judgment to this story, but, as you know, I am a bit of a wine snob.

Lucille brought box wine… a nice Sangria and a white zinfandel and Cecelia brought Paul Masson white zinfandel in a “carafe”. I brought several bottles including a nice bottle of French wine which was a Birthday gift (Marybeth’s daughter sent it from her Wine Store and Marybeth said it was a $50 bottle).

I told the girls I thought we would celebrate and share it. They were absolutely floored at thought of having or drinking a $50 bottle of wine. This is where it got the name “fancy wine”.

I could tell they were a little reluctant since it was a dark red wine. SO I opened it to breath and had the first glass as they were having some of theirs… tough transition to a red wine. I was cooking and Lucille had poured her glass of the Red… next thing I know I turn around to see her pouring some apple juice into her glass of the French Red!!!

I say Lucille what in the world are you doing!!??? To which she replies that she likes her wine SWEET!!
